Thanks for your reply.

I just leave the settings where they are since most of the time I'm
normally looking for weak signals and I'm constantly changing
frequencies. I happen to prefer dogbones to fishbones! When I see
dogbones I know I've encountered a robust signal - few and far between
on this band!

I like your word "automagically" and may pirate it on occasion. Thanks
