Steve & The Group,

First of all, I'd like to thank Steve for his continuing efforts to put XM
into the
logbook. While I'm very motivated to extend my best reception distance
into the 2000 mile club, I'm also trying to give out Alabama to other lowfer
stations now that my antenna situation is resolved.

I'd like to suggest a change in strategy. XM's ERP is no where near the "top
of the heap" in lowfer beacons...however, nearby beacon JDH in Georgia
is. I suggest that you look for JDH next Friday night...if you can receive
JDH, then I'll switch on XM, and give you a second Southern target to look
for.

The only issue with logging JDH at 2,000 plus miles may be that his signal has
a slight amount of drift to it, around .2 to .4hz in an hours time. John is
working
to correct this, but his time has been very limited since the 9/11 attacks.
It some ways though, it makes his signal easier to identify, not unlike WA's
sawtooth modulation.

John? Are you interested in pursuing this? I haven't calculated the
distance, but
it would approach the current World's record. Certainly, would go in the books
as the 2nd or 3rd longest lowfer reception.

Thanks again Steve.
