Right on ! and boy does it ever tune smoothly with that variometer.
Now I can reveal the resonating technique !
1 - Lay the highly sensitive analog voltmeter on the snow bank.
2 - Extend the leads ( i.e. make a snow angel )
3 - Grab a'holt of the pvc "tuning" control.
4 - Adjust the variometer and tune for maximum smoke,
or alternatively - maximum reading on the ac voltmeter.
5 - Return to house ( with voltmeter ).
Not as exciting or death-defying as Mike - but it works.
I am now winding a toroid for an rf sensing milliameter.
