Listers,
I think some of the ideas put forth are beyond what I envisioned for a
replacement for a pencil n' paper drawing, as first suggested. It's now
ratched upped to full CAD packages. Fine for the employed engineers and
wannabees, but those packages likely have a goodly learning curve that
is ideally saved for the professional doing a full design-to-pcb
project, IMO.
But it looks like I'm already on my way as I just downloaded CADINT and
for free. It was reco'd from another list (PICs) based on John Andrews'
early post/query here. CADINT has a lot of features and, for me just
jumping in, I couldn't extract myself from the layout screen with lines
going in senseless directions. I killed it. I'm over my head.
Other packages mentioned, and these have costs, are:
* SMARTDRAW
* PCLogic Circuit Design
* Circuit Shop
* MacroSim (also mentioned on LowFER List)
Just a thought, Peter

A quick and easy way to create schematics is with a pencil and paper,
a
scanner and a graphics program. I highly recommend the freeware
IrfanView
software; originally an image viewer but now it does much more. It can
acquire images from a scanner, edit them and save them in a variety of
formats. And it doesn't have all the excess baggage of other graphics
programs.
