Several years ago, my kids gave me a "Mr. Potatohead" type of clock, which
was powered by a couple of electrodes stuck into the potato. I expect that
it may still be available in novelty shops.

As for hearing Mike's potato-powered LowFER signal up here in Aitkin, I
still haven't heard the 1-watt version (nag, nag) :-)
