Thanks again for your help here.  I really appreciate it
was off for a while

Just came back in from soldering the 1" braid to the cap board.
Shows a whole 1/2 db diff on the SVM.

Standing on a ladder soldering above my head in the dark with a torch.
For 1/2 db   what would I do for 10db.

Paul,

You're about 16 dB below Jay. That's about 4 dB worse than the power
difference would indicate, so your coupling may not be optimum, or the loss
may be higher.
