John:

I am seeing the same line here in the DC area and thought it was something
local -- but very stable. I chased around the house and determined it wasn't of
'local' origin. I kind of thought it might be a computer in the neighborhood,
but your observation leads me to believe that it might be something else more
distant -- or a coincidence. It's about 20db out of the noise in this area
(Washington DC) and I think I hear it during the day too.

Anybody got any idea what it might be? I suspect that some of the old time
LFers might know more about it.

I am relieved to know that RAL is slightly lower and will now retry hearing him
as I had given up due to the line.

This is my second year of tinkering with LF and I am finally hearing some
signals. LEK, BRO, NC last night. Last year I only heard one signal and that
was the fellow up in Colts Neck NJ sending regular Morse, but that was during
an area-wide power outage when I had the presence of mind to operate the
receiver on batteries. I wish they'd turn off the power grid more often.
