To all,

I am using a Hitachi 4140X laptop for general radio use and a PC for plusv4.
I would like to simplify my setup and have more room on the desk by using my
laptop for all my operation.

The Hitachi 4140X came with windows 95, one COM port and a USB port. I need
two COM ports to fully use Plusv4 with freq control and packet. I wanted to
try using a USB to COM adapter. It would not work with windows 95. I upgraded
to windows 98 but discovered that the USB port on this computer is not really
a standard USB port, and windows 98 would not even recognize it. So it looks
like I cannot use the USB port.

What I would like to know is what others are using to get two COM ports? Has
anyone tried one of the PCMCIA cards? I do have room for one in the laptop
but I don't want to spend $150 for a card that might not do the job.

Any other ideas other than purchasing another laptop?
