[LOGic] NEW LOGIC ERROR? LOSS OF CAT

Thank you for your reply Hank.
DDUTIL is a utility that automates radio control programs using CAT
control; you can think of it sort of as a serial hub to integrate the Flex
radio with other serial port software that it may communicate with. Am
running current version of DDUTIL and have talked with the author about this
loss-of-CAT issue. DDUTIL is working as I can observe how it is interacting
with the Flex control program and other serial port applications connected
to it.
The error is being generated by LOGic. The weird thing is it was working
fine up until a week ago and suddenly the problem popped up for no apparent
reason. No changes have been made to the PC, hardware, or software apps.
Status Quo. Except for when a CAT command is sent to LOGic, the logger, too,
seems to be working just fine.
Waiting to hear back from Dennis, hopefully with a silver bullet!

Hi Dan,
What is the purpose of ddutil? I used it before I purchased a 32-bit copy
of DXTelnet, but now I don't need it. Have you tried a re-install to a
different directory and upgrade? Preferably without carrying over any files
from the previous install, which will be a reconfiguration PITA, but I am
not sure how else you insure you don't carry forward a corrupted file.
A little less drastic might be to blow away the rig configuration in your
current version of Logic, and then redefine it. I am using TRXManager here,
with Win 7 x64 and DXTelnet. Although it is not totally reliable, it only
blows up infrequently, and since I upgraded the TRXManager part of the
equation, it has been pretty solid.

Subject: [LOGic] NEW LOGIC ERROR? LOSS OF CAT
This is a question for LOGic users who are using a combination of Flex PSDR,
LOGic, and DDUTIL.
I am running DDUTIL 2.1.0.04, PSDR 2.3.5, and LOGic 8 on a WIN7 PC. I have
been running these for several years with no changes (except for occasional
DDUTIL & PSDR updates).
About a week or two ago I discovered that my LOGic is no longer responding
to CAT commands. Typical reboot, clean, and restart procedures do not change
anything.
When LOGic starts (and tries to communicate via the serial ports) I get the
following error:
ERROR 1881 "Error with label 1 - Caption: String is too long to fit" has
occurred in the program FORM1.INIT, Line 4.
If I ignore the error and continue, the software will start but will not
report rig activity and when I try to reset the CAT interface I get the
following/similar error:
"Error with label 1 - Caption: String is too long to fit"
Have others seen this issue? I am trying to find out if it is being caused
by LOGic or DDUTIL, and looking for ideas what might be causing this error
or how I can further troubleshoot?
Thanks and 73
Dan
