[LOGic] LOGic w/ Flex 5000

Hope you find some helpful info here, Hank, and I'm sure you'll find people
willing to help out on both the FLEX and LOGic reflectors.

A few other suggestions if you go for a Flex...give your old PC a try...you
never know, it might work OK. If not, you can always do the XYL-sanctioned
upgrade. If your old PC is not up to the task, you will probably know it
immediately with disrupted audio, screen flicker, etc. If you read the
Knowledge base articles you will find some utilities to help you analyzer
your PC performance...both in terms of benchmark tests (PassMark) and also
measuring your world DPC (Delayed Procedure Calls). If you have these issues
there are steps you can take to minimize them....however at some point
you'll be up against a wall when running very old/slow CPU, tiny RAM, etc.

If you don't want to build your own PC, or optimize one with bloatware from
Dell, HP, etc., this fellow builds/sells PC's that are optimized for use
with SDR. He's a good guy, a ham, and very helpful whether or not you buy
his products:
Neal Campbell
Abroham Neal Software

You might also want to start out with the older "certified" PSDR software.
There is newer Beta code available, and it's getting pretty stable, but when
starting out you don't want to flood yourself with too many variables.

The interface to using LOGic is pretty much the same no matter what.

Good luck and have fun!
