[LOGic] Problems with V8.0.98

Thanks for the thought Mel, however the instructions for installing 8.0.98 indicate that no previous updates have to be installed, 8.0.98 is all inclusive, plus it specifically refers you back to the instructions for the 8.0.97 update, advising you to make sure the callbooks.dbf file is deleted regardless of what previous level you are updating from. It is possible the instructions are incorrect. I'm not going to try anything further to screw up my laptop as that is all that is running right now. I am going to completely remove Logic8 from my upstairs computer, reload my original V8 CD and then apply the update to get back to V8.0.92. If that works then I'll do the same with my downstairs server and stay at V8.0.92 until someone can tell me what happened with 8.0.98.
Thanks for the input,
Paul W2EC

Just a thought.
deleting callbooks.dbf is only recommended for the .97 update. that file
has to be recreated. perhaps that is only done with the .97 update
script. If updating from .92 I would try running the .97 update before
running the .98 update.

All three are Windows XP Pro SP3 with all current updates. All are connected via an internal-to-my-house network. These systems are pretty much clones of one another with the same software applications on each. All had Logic V8.0.92 installed. The main radioroom computer is the server, where my master logbooks are maintained.I keep logbooks for my personal station, the club station that I am trustee for, my MARS station and my CAP station. The other two systems (secondary and laptop) access the main radioroom server via my internal network, so I can update my master logbooks on the server from any computer in the house.

Just a little while ago, I figured I'd try to update my logbooks on the master radioroom computer from my secondary radioroom computer (still running V8.0.92) and it worked! No errors!

I went back to the secondary radioroom machine, downloaded the V8.0.98 update from hosenose again, deleted the callbooks.dbf file and installed the V8.0.98 update. Guess what, now that machine fails just like the main radioroom machine.

So at least I can still run Logic, but only from my Laptop which I of course am going to keep at V8.0.92 until I figure out why V8.0.98 has failed on my other two machines. At least my actual logbooks on the main server machine haven't been trashed, just the executable program itself. Maybe there is something more than callbooks.dbf that has to be deleted before installing the V8.0.98 upgrade.
