[LOGic] K3 Driver

I would suggest calling Dennis as you can get a lot more accomplished?
I have spoken to him in the past few days about the K3. The Kenwood 850
driver is the closest. It does not do A>B and A/B. The K2 driver does
not do Split and it does not do A>B and A/B.

I am hopeful that Dennis will support the K3. It should not take much
work to get it all taken care of. I hope all of you with K3's will ask
Dennis to support it. The K3 is a very popular radio and will be around
a long time to come since there is still a lot that will be done with
firmware to continue to make the K3 a better radio. Amateurs IMHO are
really "smart" about using reviews and reflectors today and a search of
the Elecraft reflector will show in a heart beat that Logic does not
support the K3. I would say 95% of the hams who read this are not going
to buy Logic. If Logic is to be sold to K3 owners all it will take is
some posts on the Elecraft reflector that Logic supports the K3 and
suddenly everyone who buys a K3 or has a K3 is a potential Logic User.
The longer the K3 goes unsupported the more posts that will show up
saying so.

Logic works for all the modes, band and frequency changes presently. It
will also works fine to send CW with the K3. It turns the "SUB" RX on
and off.

Although it will do CW messages or digital messages one weakness(nothing
to do with the K3 but all radios) with Logic is that it does not have a
"hot key" and/or you can not tap the key to stop a CW message but one
can only use the mouse. That is way to slow when you hear the station
between VOX or QSK and you can not stop your CW with out fumbling around
to try and get the mouse on "cancel" and click and even when you do
there is still a little delay. It is a far cry from Writelog, etc. etc.
in this category. Also you really only have F1-F4 for messages and the
rest have to be done with the Mouse which is far from idea.

Dennis though he had found a "HOT Key" Alt R but in fact it really only
works occasionally as Alt R most times actually causes another action,
ie a solid key in most cases.

The bottom line I have been trying to work DX using logic as my logging
program and using the CW messages and it "lacks" because of the above
reasons and again it should be an easy thing to fix.

I think I started with Logic IV and have found it great for a lot of
things; especially awards tracking and a place to dump all the contests
to, LOTW, etc.

Thanks,

Ed W0SD
