Jennifer, I can't help you at this point, but perhaps to make you feel
just a little bit better...
most of us have been through something like this. And even some of us
who DO (did) have a backup have lost data.
In my case, I felt totally protected because I backed up (imaged) my
entire "C" drive to a second internal drive on my computer. And one
day...I turned the computer on and it didn't boot. 'Turned out I had
taken some kind of surge, because BOTH hard drives and a serial card
were destroyed!! So the lesson for everyone is (as Dennis recommends)
is to have more than one backup. I now back up to a second hard
internal drive, an external drive (that I usually leave unplugged),
AND a USB drive. Hopefully, this will do the trick--if not, it will
probably be due to something more important going on like some kind of
natural disaster!
