While I haven't investigated it too much yet , Microsoft does have a product that may fit nicely into many home networks just for these situations called Windows Home Server.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/windowshomeserver/default.mspx

it might be worthwhile looking into for many home networks.... you can buy just the software if you want or an entire appliance from resellers...

just a thought

Not much of what you say makes any sense to me Jennifer. i would
advise... turn off the computer immediately and call someone who knows
what they are doing to assess the situation. it may be possible to
recover your data... but do nothing. turn off the computer.

as for no backup... that is foolish... and should be a lesson to anyone
reading on the reflector. a regular backup is essential and can be
completely automated with free software. a flash drive cost very little
and is probably the best method. BTW, as Bob is finding out... it's
better to back up the entire Logic folder. With 2GB flash drives under
$20 there is no reason not to.

i had a drive failure recently and lost nothing... but like Bob, I had
to rebuild a lot of settings and stuff... I was still fixing things
weeks later ;-) That's why I recommend backing up the whole folder which
I do now.
