[LOGic] Programming Guidance Needed

Bob,
Am I to understand you added a QSL sent field? I ask as the QSL s field in
the LOGic log form allows for R, F, X and blank ... no S can be selected
from drop down list. If you added this as a user field, it isn't necessary
- and may complicate matters.
Also, aren't you having to manually select "sent" by marking "R" into this
field? And for every card you now want? (I'm trying to sort through your
process - as I'm trying to learn if you have a constant default condition or
you want to make delivery choices? Etc)
I added a user field labeled DELIVER to my log form. It's a drop-down list
with multiple choices for how I want my printed cards sent.
At the time I determine I want a card, I manually enter R into QSL s, R into
QSL r, and select BUREAU from DELIVER drop-down list. Once I print my cards,
the "QSL s "R entries automatically become "F".
The delivery method prints directly on my cards, enabling me to sort by
delivery method either automatically prior to printing or manually after
printing. Having it print on my cards ensures I'll remember how I want it
sent. If there is a QSL manager the bureau needs to direct card to, the
managers call prints in addition to the end recipient's call sign.
This may be more (multiple delivery methods) than you desire however if the
result you seek is similar, let me know.
RETURN RATE TIPS -
If you do not enter the manager call AND recipient call, your rate will
drop.
Be sure to check the LOGic Info Form to see if the country has a national
member policy. If country has a bureau, but recipient is not a member, your
rate will drop.
Average return I experience on bureau sent cards is 2 years (1 to 3).
Sometimes up to five, but that is very rare.
Check QRZ (etc) for current managers. If you wait a month plus from time you
make the contact and enter recipient address, the manager can change. I just
recently experienced this. To guard against this, my cards have both
manager and recipient call signs, and when sending direct so do my envelopes
- this affords me the opportunity to review if/when/as desired.
Be sure to learn the desired method of sending a card - direct, amount of
green stamps, and for example - IRCs only (ST2M).
Make use of LoTW, as well as any online logs - if possible to see if you are
in log, better now than get your card back marked "N.I.L."
Gotta go eat dinner - my wife is getting impatient!!

Subject: [LOGic] Programming Guidance Needed
Logic gurus- I have been making quite a bit of use of the outgoing QSL buro
lately but find the return rate a lot lower than with a direct QSL. I am in
the process of filling out country/band totals, so there are a lot of QSLs I
am mildly interested in getting but not so much that I want to QSL directly.
I have a check box on my log form to indicate that a QSL was sent via the
buro. I usually place an S into the QSL sent box and check the buro box at
that time manually. So after a while, if I am looking through things,
discover I have sent a card via the buro but have not gotten anything back
after a year or two, I start to suspect the other station is not a buro
member or at least is not going to respond that way, so I need to send a
card directly if I want it badly enough. That procedure has work fined
until now.
Now that I am into band/country totals fillout mode, I am looking at a large
number of cards-too many to go through the manual procedure. In generating
QSL labels the various reports give you the opportunity to have LOGIC mark
the QSOs as QSL sent and to record the date the card was "sent." I would
like to extend this to being able to have LOGIC optionally mark the BURO
check box at the same time. I think a fairly simple database command would
need to be added to the post processing command section of the report, but I
don't know what the command would be. Can anyone educate me?
