[LOGic] QSL LABEL REPORT

Dan,

Hello Dan,

Whoever told you to adjust the header is correct. Moving the label content
will have a deleterious additive affect with each row becoming further and
further down the sheet. Alter the bottom edge of header.

Open and modify your report. Reposition the bottom edge of the header to
force labels to begin printing further down the page. Raise the edge
(shorten the header) to have label row printing begin closer to sheet's top
edge.

Do this in one of two methods:
1. Drag and release the line which says Page Header. To see where this is,
hover your cursor. If your cursor is not displaying its location in the
status line (lower left corner), either try the next method or skip to
directions for enabling mouse location by X-Y coordinates.

2. With cursor atop the Page Header line, right mouse click, click
Properties to open the Page Header Band Properties dialog window, and at the
General tab type a new Height number. Click OK.

When done, do a SAVE AS and give this modified report a new name. Once
saved, close. Now run your newly named report and test print using a plain
white paper sheet so as to not waste labels. Align to a sheet of labels and
see how it looks.

I went to the Avery.com website and downloaded a blank label template to see
how LOGic's report aligns. This LOGic report aligned correctly from top to
bottom, but is not so good left to right. I opened the report and checked
the report's dimensions and they sum to too large a value. And this explains
how the label text can print too fat towards the right. But, all but the
longest line fit. If unhappy with left to right fit, this needs fixing.
Currently the label width is set at 2.643 (labels are 2.5 ?), left margin is
.256, and the space between each label column is .156. Not having a ruler
handy I did not measure the Avery template but you should check these
dimensions to the label stock you are using.

Hope this helps, Bill K1UQ

ps -
MAKING CURSOR X-Y LOCATIONS VISIBLE -
To make locations easy to "SEE", you want to turn on your cursor locator.
Once enabled, your cursor's X-Y locations will appear in lower left corner
in the status message line. Move your cursor and watch the location
dynamically change.

Here's how to enable - with report open, right mouse click anywhere in the
Report-layout window. Go to Properties. Go to Ruler/Grid tab. Under the
Ruler Units: field, check the empty box for: Show position in status bar
(you want a check mark). Click OK.

Thanks to all those who replied to my inquiry about the "QSL LABELS WITH
ADDRESS, 3 ACROSS" report!

I downloaded the report from the LOGIC site, and apperently the one I was
using had been "adjusted" to the point of really being out of whack.

The report on the web site "ALMOST" works: If I put in a standard label
sheet, the first row of labels it will print approx. 1/8" high, causing the
first line to be cut off, and thus every other label on the sheet is off
miscalibrated by that amount.

The quick workaround was to cut 1/8" or so off the top edge of the label,
and this will "get by" but is a nuisance.

Someone asked if the printer paper size is set right, and yes, it is.

Someone suggested slightly adjusting the height of the header, and I will
try this, hopefully without mucking up the original report and without hours
of random trial and error!

Anyway, thanks again for the help, will advise any further success!
