Yes, the telnet window stills does some weird stuff. I haven't noticed the
problem you mention with it, but I do notice that it will not open
automatically when you close Logic8 and then open it back up again.
When I open logic after it being shut down....I have to manually start the
telnet window every time.

Subject: [LOGic] Telnet Windows Closing
When Logic 8 was released there were reports of the Telnet windows closing,
which was tracked down to occurring when a rig reset was sent. Not everyone
seemed to have this problem, and Dennis fixed it. I thought the problem was
totally gone but after a few days the windows closed. After a while I found
that the problem was continuing to occur here when for some reason there was
a temporary dropout of the internet connection, which occurs very rarely.
In fact I have watched the connection drop, Logic issue a message saying it
can't find the host, wait for the connection to come back, and with the neat
autologon feature log back in to the clusters. But sometimes the windows
close.
This should probably not be a big deal to me, but I like to let the program
run overnight and come down and look at 160m and 80m activity overnight and
around sunrise. I use the spots to get a feel for what the sunset grayline
activity could be, and as info that may motivate me to get in the shack
before daylight the next morning.
Has anyone else experienced occasional closings of the Telnet windows, or
is it just me?
While I'm at it, here's another question. The _ character is used to force
a pause in a canned cw message. Many Logic versions back I ran into a
problem with this, and Dennis told me how to work around it, but I can't
find the email he sent. It seemed that _ at the beginning or end of a
canned message did not force a pause. So that if the F1 key held the
message W2WG and you tapped the key twice W2WGW2WG was sent if you hit the
function key twice before the first W2WG completed. I am pretty sure Dennis
told me to use another character, not documented in the manual, to force a
pause at the end of a string. Can anyone out there identify the character or
tell me how otherwise to force this pause? In the meantime I wait till the
first string completes and hit the button again, but in the heat of a pileup
my timing is not always correct.
