Even with this latest update, my firewall still thinks it's detecting a modified version of LOGic 7, not 8. A minor glitch that's still waiting for fixing.

Can someone remind me?

Hello
I wonder if anyone can help please with some instructions for generating a
report from my LOGic7 log?
I need to submit details of my contacts with as many different German
stations I can since the 13th May for the World Cup Football diploma. It's
going to be a real chore going through and marking each one - just thought
there would be a simple routine that would do the trick for me!
Many thanks

You can use the Reports...Log...Export Input Data to create your list.
You can then open resulting CSV file in almost any spreadsheet program
such as Microsoft Excel or the free Open Office
(http://www.openoffice.org) to open and selct the fields / order you
would like.
I have created a flash movie to demonstrate. Visit

You must set up the contest info in the contest/log form (Log --> Setup -->
Contest setup) then from main menu:
Contesting ---> Clear/Rescore contest

Well, to expand on that just a bit... :-) the LOGic rig control functions
are rudimentary but useful. You get VFO, VFO granularity (kHz per click),
VFOA/VFOB controls including split, and mode control. As far as doing any
fine-tuning, though, like filters, RIT, etc. -- no.
>From PDA you can also get TRX Manager, a full-featured rig control program
that runs LOGic as an OLE extension. Yes, this actually works! :-) But you
have to like TRX Manager to be happy with this arrangement, and I'm not that
thrilled with it. It's a very powerful control program -- I just don't like
the way it's architected. Doesn't feel comfortable to me. Some people love
it. MHOO, YMMV, etc.
Hope this helps --

Bill W5WVO

I guess I have a unique problem as I saw NO responses to my earlier

Since then, I backed up my data and reinstalled Logic7. I thought that
something might have gotten munged either in the program or in the
registry, and that if so, a reinstall might have fixed it. No soap! The
reinstall made no difference.
I am running WinXP. I have administrator rights. Everything else seems to
be working normally (including the new problems with the callbook :-)).
Any suggestions?

Hello group...
I recently upgraded to Logic 8 and am having growing pains.
I have browsed the manual but have not found the answers...if my questions
are covered in the manual, please steer me there, else any suggestions
welcomed!
1) In LOGIC 7, if I minimized the DX Summit Spotting window, it would
minimize into Windows (ie off the LOGIC screen); with LOGIC 8, it stays on
the LOGIC screen. How to get it to minimize like other Windows apps (ie off
the LOGIC screen)?
2) When I type a new call in the LOG window, the Callbook From Web window
does not go and search for the call. The only active search database is QRZ,
and it is at the top of the setup list.
4) Painfully long pauses while LOGIC (or DX Summit spotting?) does
something...I lose total control of the PC while some task grabs all system
resources. I am used to LOGIC doing this a little, but LOGIC 8 seems way
worse than LOGIC 7. The problem is not the PC or internet connection; as
soon as I exit LOGIC, things get nice and speedy. The PC here is not a
powerhouse, but is fairly current, and whatever delays LOGIC 7 had were
manageable...what has changed in LOGIC 8, and what can I tweak? Durings
these periods, Task Manager shows LOGIC 8 to be eating 90+ % of system
resources.
That's it for now...probably more to follow, but a little bit at a time.
Thanks and 73

Make sure you have downloaded the latest update. There was an issue of the
cluster not movable to the desktop but it was resolved.
My callbook window does display the QRZ website. Make sure it is enabled in
the log form's setup.

Julio...
Many thanks for your reply.
Item #1 worked well, altho it's still different from prior LOGIC versions:
by clicking "IN WINDOWS DESKTOP", and unclicking "ALWAYS ON TOP", I can
indeed get the DX Summit Spot log to go away...however, it no longer exists
on the desktop at all...only by restarting it, or going to LOGIC\WINDOW tab,
can I again find the DX Summit Spot window. I'd prefer it a little
different, but I can live with it. BTW, if "ALWAYS ON TOP" remins clicked,
there is no way to make the window go to the background.
Item #2 was fixed as you suggested. It seems to be working fine now.
Item #3: Odd, I had no Item #3! What was I doing?!?
Item #4: I'd be inclined to blame it on my PC, but LOGIC 7 is still running
here, and it is considerably speedier than LOGIC 8. I agree this may be a
question for Dennis.
Thanks for your help & suggestions!

Hi Ben...
Thanks for your reply.
I do have the latest update version, but I still can't get the cluster
window to leave the LOGIC screen and hide down on the desktop.
As to the QRZ database, the problem was not finding the new menu item in the
LOG FORM, which enables auto-logging. Once clicked, I was able to get that
feature working.
Not sure about the other issues yet.
Thanks and 73
Dan

I guess one of our 'boffins' will explain to us mere mortals what we need to
do to the database etc to change Serbia & Montenegro to just plain Serbia
and as of this evening enter the new DXCC Country of Montenegro?
Any help appreciated

Hello group...
I have "LOST" my default LOG window!
I was playing with transparency and some of the on-desktop tricks, and the
default log screen is now inacessible!
When LOGIC8 is running, it shows that the LOG defaults to open, and I can
see the minimized icon on the taskbar, but I can't bring it back into the
LOGIC main screen (always on top) nor even maximize it! Same things is
happening with my DX Summit Spotting window.
The Info, Callbooks, and Spot Log tables all show up nicely in the main
LOGIC 8 screen.
HELP!!!
Thanks and 73

Subject: [LOGic] LOIG PREFIX & COUNTIRES TABLES - Montenegro is newest ARRL
DXCC entity
Message-ID: <003301c69bd5$a2b50730$6601a8c0@k0dan>
Hello group...
Since I am going thru the transition from LOGIC 7 to LOGIC 8, it is also
time to review my PREFIX, COUNTIRES, and other tables to assure everything
is current.
The ARRL has just announced that Montenegro is a new DXCC entity...what
tweaks need to be done to which tables to make them currrent?
While at the process, what other new entities, DXpeditions, 1x1 calls,
special events, and other changes have taken place in the last 3-5 years
that need to be reviewed in one's database?
Thanks and 73
Dan
