[Logic] My original question

Seems like we go thru this every release.

Load the new version of LOGic into a new subdirectory, then chase our
tails figuring out how to get ALL our data into the new version without
losing anything. Yes, an IMPORT facility is provided to move the LOG
data over, but what is needed is a MIGRATE facility that will completely
transfer all other user created data such as the user lat/lon info and
setup data, custom reports, user created or modified log forms, user
fields etc.

Basically a user should run the LOGic install utility to get the new
version into its own subdirectory, then a MIGRATE utility to transfer
into the new LOGic ALL the info from the prior version. After these two
steps, the new LOGic should be ready to run, no having to re-enter your
setup info, no log forms popping up with undefined userfields or invalid
report formats etc.

In my opinion this is one of the most glaring problems with LOGic and it
has been with us since the first release. If it is considered too
complex for Dennis to provide this as part of the normal upgrade path,
then how is it expected that we users perform it by hand each release
without the detailed knowledge that Dennis has of his own product?
