Hey Art,
Nice to see your reply, been a while since I've "interacted" on the
reflector.........Hope all is good and you got plenty of presents.
Your response makes me feel better. Thought I was having another "senior
moment" (hi hi).
It took a few minutes for the changes required in valid values to sink in.
As I started updating it became clear that you would need both in valid
values but can't as it would create a province/territory that doesn't exist.
Taking the ARRL bulletin literally, "NT is "unofficial"", I thought all was
okay as RAC was going to maintain the NWT abbreviation. Then I went to the
RAC website and it had changed to NT. By this time I was too tired to think
anymore (updating/correcting the whole log before lotw submission) and
posted to the reflector for some mental cleansing.
I was thinking, and maybe not too clearly, that the contest logform was the
answer. Still, without serious thinking, it seems the answer lies in the
fact that it IS just a multiplier issue. Multipliers only count in
contests, not awards. Having said that, and not looking at a contest
logform, the logform is "customizable" for multipliers, so can't it be a tad
smarter ?? A new userfield ?? Maybe combined with a "new" set of valid
values titled RAC-NWT, RAC-NS, etc ?? Not quite at the top of the priority
list, but I'll be tinkering with this more.
Okay on the "blanks", amazingly, I remembered to do this........even
backed-up the log just in case. Of course, things will go screwy when I
launch into a contest with an old contest logform...........a scary thought,
but it makes me wonder just what else could be linked to the list of valid
values that you can't see.....out of sight, out of mind.....oh god !!
Now, back to the log updates........ugh, this year I'll keep a little better
handle on changes........yea, right !

More to the point: if you have entries on your logform with "NWT" and
then you suddenly remove "NWT" or change all "NWT" to "NT" in list of
valid values, the next time you run update awards progress info, there
will be *blanks* on your logform where NWT used to show up. You might
want to go back and retroactively change all NWT's to NT's in your
log.
If you don't want this to happen, again, you will have to have both an
entry for NT and an entry for NWT in list of valid values.
