[Logic] Linksys Router - Losing Telnet Connection

The DOCIS (Spelling ?) is a protocol for cable modems. It should have
nothing to do with your router. If it started working it probably was a
reset after the new cable modem. The interface form the Modem to the Router
is via Ethernet, nothing to do with the change.
To answer though, it is a good thing since that is the standard and you can
use any compliant modem. You can buy one for less than 90 dollars today,
maybe much better than renting.
