[Logic] File Compression Fails

A while back with LOGIC5 I could no longer make backups as I would get a
file compression fails message.  This was on a Windows ME system that
had been allowing me to make backups for a long time.  Dennis took a
look at my log, found nothing wrong, but within a few days started to
see a similar problem on one of his machines.  Dennis, I believe, had a
good idea of what the problem was, said it was fixable, but not worth
doing in version 5.
 
I have switched to XP and to LOGIC6.  I still have the problem.  I can
take the log files to another machine with Windows SE and can do
backups.  Today I turned off the virus protection and my firewall
thinking that perhaps they were at fault.  But I still have the problem.
 
Is anyone else having this problem?  Does anyone have an idea how I can
cure it?
