Q: When I log a station whose call of an IOTA island, nothing appears in the
IOTA field on my log form. I must then go to the IOTA field, expand it and
do a search for the island name or call prefix. Then I select that entry and
all is fine.
A: Mike, that is correct. The IOTA List provides a drop down menu that lists
all the Island Group in the IOTA Program. You choose which group the operator
is currently working from. IOTA expeditions are constantly changing and
cannot be permanently fixed to a callsign. The LOGic IOTA disk allows you to
track IOTAs worked and print a list to submit for IOTA awards. The awards are
tracked just like DXCC and WAS, etc. The USI (US Islands) and CIA (Canadian
Islands Award) have similar drop down menus. The IOTA disk also makes
tracking of IOTAs in the "Spot Log" possible.
All the active islands that are in each IOTA group are also included on the
disk as well as latitude and longitude. However, currently this information
can only be viewed by going to "Lists of Valid Values" and looking at each
individual group. The next version of LOGic should allow for viewing and
accessing this information from a menu selection.
Q: Have I forgotten to do something or am I expecting too much?
A: You have not forgotten anything, the program is operating as it should.
Q: Shouldn't the IOTA identification appear when I log-in the call, like the
DXCC ID, etc.?
A: No
If I can be of any further help, please feel free to ask.

If it isn't LOGic it isn't LOGging !
