My guess would be that you don't have the callbook window open when 
you first start Logic.  It has to be open all the time, even if you 
minimize the window. I resized all my windows to make room for the 
callbook winndow in the lower right hand corner of my display.

As I said.. just a guess based on what I read into your email Arnie..
