The Western Illinois Amateur radio club will again be participating in Field
Day this year and we would like for anyone and everyone interested to come
by and join us, club member or not, ham or not. The event starts Saturday
June 26 at 1:00 PM local time and runs for 24 hours. We will again be
operating from the Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 2300
North 23rd (just off of 24th street and Koch's Lane on the North end of
Quincy). We will start with antenna work Friday afternoon/evening and finish
on Saturday morning, operate for 24 hours and tear down after 1:00 PM
Sunday. There is plenty of work to be done, antennas to install, coaxes to
run, operating positions to set up as well as operating the event and tear
down. We plan on having 3 operating positions available (SSB & CW), so plan
on coming to operate as well.
There will be a carry in supper starting at 6:30 PM on Saturday, open to
everyone. The club will be supplying sandwiches, iced tea and table service.
Please bring your family and friends and a covered dish or two to share. We
have a large classroom to operate in with plenty of room to spread out to
talk and eat. Again, everyone is invited and please bring a friend.
We will have a station listening on 147.63/.030 for anyone that needs help
finding the place or needs to get a hold of someone at the site.
