Dear LEARC:

Hello. I am Dave Lattan, W9PFD and I moved to the Macomb area about two years ago. Unfortunately, my travel schedule for work has precluded my getting to any LEARC meetings to introduce myself, although I have made the acquaintance of a few folks on the 147.06 repeater.

On Monday, June 14 I will be participating in a Boy Scout Day Camp by setting up an Amateur Radio display. From about 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM I will have groups of about 10 scouts for around 45 minutes per group. I intend to set up a portable HF and VHF station, have a mobile HF and VHF station, and a short video presentation. At 45 minutes per group, it is my hope to let each scout talk to someone on the air. I will be utilizing MIDCARS on 40 meters and I hope to have some of the Illinois ARES/RACES group monitoring 3905. I also hope that there might be a number of you monitoring 147.06 that day for some 2 meter contacts. If you can, please support this effort to introduce young people from our area to Amateur Radio. If you will be able to help out on the air that day, or if you perhaps wish to help out on site, please drop me an email.

Thanks + 73,

Dave Lattan, W9PFD
