The meeting was held at McDonald's due to my incompetence in not giving a building key for the Red Cross to the vice president - apologies again folks.

Mark reported that seven members attended a more informal business meeting at McDonald's due to being locked out of the regular facility. There was discussion about weather spotter safety and in new business John Carson, N9LBC discussed interference to Macomb Police (elecrical-impulse noise) radios.

Brandon, KC9ILN talked about a change to severe storm warning criteria. The threshold for issuing a SVR t-storm warning due to large hail will be upgraded from the current 3/4" threshold to a new threshold of 1" in diamater on or before April 1st. Special weather statements or significant weather advisories will now be issued for strong thunderstorms containing hail of less than 1" in diameter; the NWS feels this change will work towards altering much of the general public's current desensatization to SVR t-storm warnings. Additionally, studies have shown that basically all significant hail damage and/or injury is caused by hail greater than 1" in diameter.

Rich, N9EWQ talked about the issues with the UHF system not working when attached to an antenna. The club tossed around some ideas on that issue

There was some discussion about the McDonough County spotter training session on April 2 and Tony, KB9NAB mentioned that they will be giving away some extra weather radios. Attendees must register and be present to win.
