The walk through for Field day will not be Saturday of Memorial day weekend. Hopefully it can be done on the first Saturday in June. When I can arrange a date, I will post it to the reflector.

Subject: [LeArc] May Meeting Summary
Next club meeting May 13th 2008 at 7:00 PM
Please join us Sunday Night for the
Lamoine Emergency ARC Sunday Evening Net.
Net time is 8:00 PM local time.
The following is a summary of the monthly business meeting that was held last night.
We had several guests visit the meeting, and both young visitors are very interested in obtaining their amateur radio licenses. They were invited to Field Day, and information was given on how they can go about obtaining a license!
The UHF repeater will be off the air in the next day or two. Rich, N9EWQ needs to repair the controller. We will have a Field Day this year, to be held June 28th-29th at Lake Argyle. There will be some sort of a trial setup around Memorial Day weekend - stay tuned. Setup will commence at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. If you are able to help, please let him know ASAP. We need a list of hams who are willing to attend and serve as control/station operators. The following people have indicated that they can attend: Brandon (KC9ILN), Jerry (KB9DEH), Joe (KC9LEA)??, Chris (KC9LDG)?? If you can attend, email Rich at rr-sample at wiu.edu
The tower mounting hardware for the VHF repeater antenna has arrived. The new antenna and hardware are ready to go! We are waiting on the installation crew to come and replace the old VHF repeater antenna, as the .06 machine is currently operation off of the backup antenna.
We need workers for the Heritage Days parade on Saturday, June 28th. The following hams have signed up to date: Brandon (KC9ILN), Mark (KA9SZX), Tony (KB9NAB) and Dustin (KC9LRC). We will need about ten people to pull this off, so email me if you are available to help.
John Carson, N9LBC from the McDonough County Sheriff's Department attended the meeting, speaking as both a public safety professional and a fellow ham radio operator/storm spotter. He is encouraging everyone to purchase reflective safety vests for use during storm spotting and other LEARC functions that might pose a traffic hazard. We are going to look into pricing for some sort of vests that have a uniform color that will identify our organization. We were also reminded by John that he believes AMBER lights are OK to use while storm spotting, but that they should ONLY be used when you are in a stationary, parked position while storm spotting. Amber lights SHOULD NOT be used while your vehicle is in motion. He also reminded everyone that storm spotters do not have any legal or ethical right to disregard traffic rules and regulations. Finally, it was noted that we should remember that your actions in the "field" will either reflect positively or
negatively on the club, ham radio operators and/or storm spotters in general.
Net assignments:
1. 05/18 – Chris, KC9LDG
2. 05/25 – Dustin, KC9LRC
3. 06/01 – Ken, KC9ERB
4. 06/08 – Jesse, K9JLR
Regards,
Jesse, K9JLR
