[LeArc] Tonight's Meeting

We were one person short of the required quorum to conduct business at tonight's meeting, but a great time was had by those in attendance. Since this is becoming more and more frequent, a change was read and proposed at the gathering:

Article VI of the current constitution reads as follows:
"The By-Laws shall provide for regular and special meetings. A minimum of 10 members present at the meeting shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. A current proposal calls for keeping the wording exactly the same, except for reducing the number from 10 members TO 5 MEMBERS for purposes of a quorum to conduct business."

The current number of 10 members was established in a time when the club's membership numbered 50-60 people (10 persons was 1/5 the total membership at that time), and the number 5 persons now reflects slightly more than 1/5 of our current membership. Since pertinent business needs to be transacted, and has been unable to be done for as many as two months in a row due to a lack of quorum, this proposal is being submitted for a vote at a future meeting. You can email me if you have any questions or concerns about reducing this number for a quorum by 50%, from 10 members down to 5 members.

Also, Vice President Ken Betz, KC9ERB has submitted his letter of resignation to me via email. We will need to act on this matter at the January meeting.

Thanks to all who helped ring bells for the Salvation Army last weekend. Don't forget - Carthage hamfest this coming Saturday, December 13th at the 4H center or IL Route 94 in Carthage.

Jesse, K9JLR
