Tests conducted this afternoon with the NWS forecast office in Davenport, IA confirmed that the weather service is able to access both our 147.060 MHz two-meter repeater in its current condition (we're on the backup antenna as is) and the 147.105 MHz Carthage repeater, each with a full quieting, perfectly readable signal. Receive on my signal at the NWS end was reciprocal.
Brandon, KC9ILN served as control operator at the NWS when we conducted the test this afternoon; there was no band opening when we conducted this test. I was able to copy the NWS station at S9 on the simplex input frequency for each repeater. I was also able to copy the station full quieting, with an S9 signal on 146.520 MHz.
The NWS has erected a 12 element two-meter beam within the past two years, and when operated and positioned correctly, they were able to access not only our these repeaters, but also the .03 machine in Quincy! Previous tests have confirmed that they have no problem accessing the Dallas City VHF repeater either.
They should have no problem accessing any repeaters in the southern portion of their forecast area.
Jesse, K9JLR
