While this is a bit late, the April LEARC meeting summary is included with this message.

A few announcements. There is a new repeater on the air in this area, effective immediately. A new UHF repeater has been erected by the Dallas City crew on 444.925 MHz (+ offset, 123.0 Hz PL). In addition, I have an experimental digipeater on the air here in Colchester (use 144.390 MHz APRS, Wide 2-2, station ID K9JLR-1). The range on this digipeater is 20-30 miles mobile to base and 35-50 miles base to base.

The KARC's annual Sandwich hamfest is coming up this Sunday in northern Illinois. More details are available at http://www.kish-club.org/2008Flyer-Color.pdf

The NWS has also completed testing with the Dallas City VHF repeater (145.330 MHz). It is worth noting that the PL on that machine was recently changed to 82.5 Hz. They are able to utilize that repeater and will monitor during sever weather situations, although I'm not aware that it's yet been designated as an "official" amateur radio contact repeater with the NWS in Davenport.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The repeater committee report was given by Rich, N9EWQ (as forwarded to me in his absence) and Mark, KA9SZX. The power supply for the .06 machine has been fixed. The sidearm mounting equipment for the new repeater antenna has been ordered (it has since arrived and is awaiting installation by the tower crew). Rich is going to investigate interference issues on our UHF repeater, and the Dallas City group has expressed interest in linking our UHF repeater with their repeater system.

We discussed generating an ARES list for the county in case of emergencies. I am coordinating with ARRL officials on the status of an EC for McDonogh County (more at the next meeting). We need to get moving on Field Day 2008 ASAP. If you are willing and able to participate, please get ahold of Rich, N9EWQ ASAP by emailing rich sample rr-sample at wiu.edu.

We welcomed new amateur Jenny Pelletier, KC9NEU into the ham community. Jenny is a student at WIU and she is active in the severe weather club. She obtained her license over spring break!
