Two CoCoRaHS training session have been scheduled, and more are in the works. Check the Illinois CoCoRaHS web page for details and registration information and for additional training sessions. 

Thursday, September 27, 7:00 p.m. 
Western Illinois University 
Macomb, IL 

Thursday, October 11, 7:00 p.m. 
University of Illinois Extension Office 
Naperville, IL 



The National Weather Service Offices in Romeoville, Lincoln, and St. Louis will be holding open houses in the next month. Check the links below for directions to each office and more details. 

NOTE: For security reasons – no bags, backpacks, purses are permitted in the NWS buildings. Please leave them in your car. Cameras are allowed. 

Lincoln, IL: Saturday, September 29, 9am-4pm 

They will have displays inside and outside of our building covering their operations, and will conduct a few special weather balloon launches. There will also be displays by Tazewell County ESDA, Logan County EMA, our ham radio volunteers, the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, the University of Illinois - Department of Atmospheric Science, and the American Red Cross. The will also be a display and information on CoCoRaHS.

Romeoville, IL: Saturday, October 6, 9am-3pm 

Official NWS weather observations – surface and upper air – a weather balloon will be on display 

Volunteer weather observing networks including the Cooperative program, CoCoRaHS, and the Chicago-Rockford Area Snowfall Teams 

The NOAA and NWS organization, the Chicago Weather Forecast Office area of responsibility, and programs 

An overview of our web pages and NOAA Weather Radio – All Hazards 
Displays of satellite, Doppler radar, and weather maps 
Forecast operations and the warning decision process 
A look at the Doppler radar data acquisition building (sorry, visitors are not permitted inside the radar dome) 
An overview of computer systems and communications

St. Louis, MO: Saturday, October 27, 9am-3pm
