Local amateur radio operators have been requested to participated in the 2007 Boy Scouts Association Disaster Training event to be held in two weeks. The local lodge would like the ham radio operators to be present from 8:30am-4:00pm on Saturday, April 14th at Macomb High School (there will be a one hour break for lunch - and you must bring a sack lunch).
The specific topics they are looking for are us to present focus on communications during an emergency and some instruction on Morse code. While the Boy Scouts are aware that CW is no longer an entrance requirement for amateur radio, they would still like the boys to see and use a stenograph - it helps them complete an advancement requirement and it's important history they should learn.
You (as hams) are also welcome to bring any handouts or demonstrative tools that you wish. Estimated attendance is 150 Scouts (ages 7-18).
Please let me know as soon as possible if you would be willing to participate in this event.
Thanks,
Jesse / K9JLR
