Special Weather Statement
538 PM CDT Sat Jul 14 2007
...Scattered thunderstorms developing...
At 530 PM CDT...National Weather Service Doppler radar was showing
scattered thunderstorms developing from just south of Memphis...to
near Kahoka and Keokuk. The storms will bring gusty winds and very
heavy downpours at rates of over an inch an hour...as they move
southeast at around 20 mph. Additional storms are expected to
develop further east through west central Illinois roughly along and
south of a line from Carthage to Macomb through 7 PM. There is the
potential that an isolated storm could become severe producing large
hail from penny to nickel size...and damaging straight line winds of
60 mph.
As the thunderstorms approach...move indoors. Do not stand by
windows. Unless it is an emergency...avoid using telephones and
electrical appliances until the storm has passed.
Expires:150030 gmt
