1.  A copy of Rolla's obituary is contained below; remember that the visitation is from 6-8 p.m. tonight.

2.  Our regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.  It's a bit late to change the location, so we'll meet at the Red Cross building as originally planned.  We have much to talk about at the meeting, so hopefully you'll consider attending if possible.

3.  Does anyone have an old copy of the club constitution?  If not, the constitution and bylaws appear to be gone and are going to need to be rewritten soon if we are not able to locate a copy!

4.  There has been some discussion about changing the meeting night. We'll discuss this in greater detail at the meeting.  I would like members to email me if they have preferences for a particular night of the week that would work best for them, even if it means leaving the current meeting night as is.  We need feedback from members who are not able to regularly attend meetings.

5.  There is interest in having a field day celebration next year, so come prepared to discuss this and throw out some ideas too.

6.  There have been subtle concerns (both in and even outside of the ham community) about an apathetic attitude from the local ham community in general, including but not limited to the following:  lack of visibility..no one on local repeaters..unprofessional or illegal transmissions/conversations on the air...no one answering calls for travel assistance on the repeater...little use of local simplex frequencies, failure to help when requested, etc.  We'll address some of these concerns and (hopefully) see if we can come up with a plan for improvement at the meeting.

Load up your plate..you shouldn't come away from the meeting feeling empty!

MACOMB - Rolla Hightower, Jr., 83, of Macomb, died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at McDonough District Hospital.

He was born January 10, 1924 in Huntsville the son of Rolla and Minnie (Ryan) Hightower.

Services
will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of God Abrahamic Faith, 625
W. Chase, Macomb with Pastor Rob Bernheisel officiating. Visitation
will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jones Mortuary in Colchester.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Sunday. Burial will
be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Church
of God Abrahamic Faith.
