This is just a reminder that the monthly meeting of the LEARC will be held
on Tuesday, August 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the American Red Cross center on
Maple Avenue in Macomb.
Our guest speaker will be Donna Dubberke from the National Weather Service
office in Davenport, IA. Donna will address the club about some recent
concerns regarding spotter procedures and properly utilizing amateur radio
nets in the Macomb area to report severe weather to the National Weather
Service. The previously scheduled presentation on ECHOLINK has been moved
back to the September meeting.
We will discuss the process of replacing the antenna for the 147.060 MHz
repeater as well.
I attended the Quincy hamfest on Saturday morning. I had several members
from the WIARC (Quincy Club) comment/question the lack of traffic on our
two-meter repeater when they needed travel assistance passing through the
Macomb area in the past year. I would encourage club members to
continuously monitor the repeater and use it more frequently.
I hope to see everyone at the meeting!
