...Heat advisory now in effect until 7 am CDT Thursday...

The heat advisory is now in effect until 7 am CDT Thursday.

Hot and humid conditions will continue across southeast Iowa...
west central Illinois...and northeast Missouri. High temperatures
this afternoon will be in the middle to upper 90s...with overnight
lows staying at or above the middle 70s. High humidity levels will
combine with the hot temperatures...pushing heat index readings
above 105 late this afternoon. A weak cold front will bring some
relief to the area on Thursday...with heat index values peaking
around 100...which is much lower than the past few days.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures and high
humidity is expected. This combination will lead to possible heat
illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air conditioned
room...and check on relatives and neighbors...especially the
elderly.
