As many of you know, the two-meter repeater is not operating properly. Rich Sample was out at the tower site investigating the problem yesterday, and he and/or Mark will be investigating the problem in greater detail today. As of this writing I do not have a confirmed, definite reason why the repeater is not funtioning properly...but we should have a better idea before tomorrow, so stay tuned for details. The suspected culprit is the antenna, but further testing is needed in order to verify the exact nature of the problem. Be advised that there is a chance of severe weather both today and tomorrow per the Storm Prediction Center daily outlooks.
Therefore, I would suggest that any pertinent traffic that would normally be passed on the repeater be relayed using 147.060 MHz simplex. Since most people already montior the frequency it would be the best alternative while the repeater is down. It might be wise to monitor 146.520 MHz simplex as well, since some people passing through the area might try the calling channel if they are not able to access the repeater. Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
