WIU Working on Emergency Management Degree Program.

After 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina people have become more aware of how 
important emergency responders are.

Many of the people who respond are firefighters, police and 
volunteers who go out of their way to help.

But Western Illinois University is working on a plan to offer an 
undergraduate degree program on Emergency Management.

Recent disasters caused the school to ask some important questions 
regarding coordination of services in case of  tornadoes and other 
types of disasters.

W-I-U hopes to offer the new program to students starting with the 
spring semester of 2007.
