Greetings to LEARC, and happy to hear of this new addition to the
roster.
New WIU call is now listed on QRZ so it is out there for all to see.

http://www.qrz.com/callsign/KC9EQD links to above as well.
And WIU is keeping the old W9YOL call, too. Hope to hear either on the
air, soon.
Add that I was surprised when I first heard W9NIU come up and ID when I
first came back to my home state. I remembered the old call belonging to
one of the SK founders of the Starved Rock Radio Club, Mercer Nicholson
of Tonica, IL. And here heard again from the college at Northern Illinois
University in DeKalb. I know Mercer would have been proud to see his old
W9NIU call recycled under the vanity system, as his son Brad KA9WRZ
continues in Dad's fine tradition and later confirmed this news. Those
Novice QSO really stick in one's brain, and thought I was hearing a ghost
call from my early days as WN9SLK.
Many fine old calls being recycled, and this seems to be a win win
situation for most. It certainly adds to a fine roster out there of
familiar calls that I hope to work again. And perhaps newsworthy, too.
