County to conduct emergency exercise

MACOMB- McDonough County first-responders have been working hard to prepare 
for an emergency response exercise to be conducted on October 14 from 1 to 
3 p.m. at Western Hall in Macomb.

The exercise which is being lead by the McDonough County Health Department 
includes participation from Macomb Police, Macomb Public Works, McDonough 
County Chapter of the American Red Cross, McDonough County Sheriff's 
Office, McDonough County 911, McDonough District Hospital, Spoon River 
College School of Nursing, Western Illinois University, WIU Office of 
Public Safety, area physicians, dentists, pharmacists, technicians, and 
numerous volunteers.

The exercise is designed to help area agencies better prepare and respond 
to large scale emergencies in the McDonough County area. Through the 
exercise the participating agencies will set up and secure an emergency 
clinic in a limited amount of time.

Evaluators will be on site to monitor the various agencies. A full-scale 
exercise involves physically setting up, securing, and running through a 
clinic. This exercise is designed to test and evaluate the emergency 
response plans.

Friday's exercise is part of a larger state-wide exercise being conducted 
Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Additional funding for 
the exercise was received from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
