The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

Central Illinois
east central Missouri

Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 1130 PM
until 500 am CDT.

Hail to 1 inch in diameter...thunderstorm wind gusts to 70
mph...and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is along and 60 statute miles
north and south of a line from 10 miles north northeast of
Danville Illinois to 70 miles southwest of Kirksville Missouri.

Remember...a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch number 702. Watch number 702 will not be

Discussion...strong/severe thunderstorms moving into nrn MO expected
to continue  potentially severe for several more hours as there is a
very unstable air mass available across the watch area.  35-40 kt
swly low level jet will maintain warm advection/lift and threat  of
damaging winds with the storms as they move sewd.

Aviation...a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft
to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots.
A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm motion
vector 29035.
