Myself and Joe AG9Y went up to the top of Lincoln Hall this morning and
inspected the repeater location.
It looks like the coax run would approx. be 40-45 ft from where the =
repeater
is located to the antenna. The current coax snakes in between a concrete
pillar and the south wall to the upper level of the penthouse then =
outside.
We would have to drill a new hole, presumably on the lower level south =
side
to get 7/8" heliax through to the outside. There is no way we can snake =
7/8"
up through where the coax goes now. There is not enough clearance.
We found a UPS already attached to the repeater as well as the back up
battery supply. We do not know where this UPS came from but it appeared =
to
not be able to hold a charge in its internal battery and it was replaced
with the new UPS that Joe had. The back up batteries appeared to be =
still
working in good order with its charging supply. We unplugged the =
repeater
from the AC to test it and it seemed to be holding up ok.
We checked the output of the repeater which measured 20 watts out with =
no
reflection. Sensitivity was good and appeared to be close to on =
frequency.
We discovered the MANUAL for the repeater and controller is missing! If
ANYONE knows where it is at, please contact me or Joe. It needs to be =
placed
back up by the repeater. Otherwise we will need to order or find new =
manuals
and that could be a chore.
We inspected the antenna and mounting bracket. I was able to twist the
fiberglass whip where it is attached to the base. It was not solid and =
may
be a place where water is getting in. The coax was still taped up at the
bottom of the antenna but there appeared to be a splice a few feet down. =
I
don't remember if this was something we had done when the Comet antenna =
was
replaced or what but it is possible that it would also be a problem =
point.
The pipe is 2 inch outer diameter and appears it would work good for
whatever antenna we want to mount on it. The mount appeared to be solid =
with
no problems.
