I didn't realize bird watching could be so exciting!

I was with a couple of bird watchers who were doing the annual state
spring bird count for the county. We were in the Bardolph area when we
heard the warnings go out for Hancock Co. We then headed to Macomb and
were on the west edge when we heard Rich N9EWQ state he was seeing the
wall cloud near Spring Lake. We went on west past the Macomb Speedway
and up the hill onto the flats where we had an excellent view of the
wall cloud to the north. Apparently others thought it was a good spot
for the next thing I knew, there was 4 cars stopped with people out
looking north. We never saw any rotation and the wall cloud continued to
the northeast and started to get behind some trees. It was probably less
than a minute after that when we heard the funnel cloud siting near Good
Hope. So we continued on west to the tee intersection so we could turn
north for about a half mile and was able to see the wall cloud again.
Through binoculars I could see the tornado. I never saw a funnel but I
saw debris clouds spinning around the vortex. It then seem to dissipate
and it was getting too far away at that point.

I'm glad to hear no one was hurt. I think Tony KB9NAB ran a good
spotting net.
