FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FROM: STEVE MILLER, MCDONOUGH COUNTY ESDA DIRECTOR AND

TONY CONIGLIO MCDONOUGH COUNTY BOARD ESDA CO-CHAIRMAN AND LAMOINE =
EMERGENCY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB PROGRAM DIRECTOR

RE: STORM SPOTTER TRAINING FOR MCDONOUGH COUNTY

MACOMB---Severe weather season is just around the corner, and the =
McDonough County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency,(ESDA) and the =
Lamoine Emergency Amateur Radio Club will sponsor a tornado and severe =
thunderstorm spotter training class which is open to the public.

This session will be held on Thursday, March 13, at 6:30 P.M., at the =
Macomb American Legion Post located at 221 West Washington Street.

Donna Dubberke, Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the National =
Weather Service office in Davenport, Iowa, will conduct the session. =
This will be a two hour session.

As a special treat, Gary Gleichman, head meteorologist and weather man =
at KHQA-TV, Channel 7 in Quincy will also be on hand to present his 6 =
P.M. weather program.

If you can't make this session, another will be held on Tuesday, March =
18, at 7 P.M., at Northwestern High School in Sciota

According to Steve Miller, McDonough County ESDA Director, anyone =
interested in severe weather including emergency personnel, ham radio =
operators and the general public is encouraged to attend this program. =
You do not have to be interested in becoming a spotter to attend, but =
according to Miller, more storm spotting volunteers are needed. By =
attending a training class like this, anyone will be better prepared to =
face severe weather both at home or on the road. This type of =
information can help anyone prepare their family for severe weather.

For more information on preparation of a family disaster plan or on =
becoming a severe weather spotter, contact McDonough County ESDA at =
309-837-2686 or 309-333-1042.
