Jay, I am subscribed to a service that sends an email message to my computer here and
also to my cell phone I carry with me.
It is not for routine weather reports, but rather watches, warnings and so on. You
can pick the counties you want to be advised for, McDonough is one of them.
I have subscribed to it for over a year, and I am pleased with it, although the
messages it sends to my cell phone seem to be larger than my phone can receive in
entirety.
With my cell phone, I can get enough of the message to see if it is a watch or warning
and what counties are involved, but the descriptions of it are cut off. It serves the
purpose though, when my phone vibrates and the display tells me it is a weather message,
that`s my clue to tune in the local news station to see what is happening.
The messages that it sends to my home email address are similar to the messages that
have been posted here on this email list.
This service is from the National Weather Service, based out of the Quad Cities.
