Statement as of 11:59 am CST on January 2, 2003

...A Winter Weather Advisory In Effect This Afternoon...

Additional snowfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected before snow
ends around mid afternoon. Snow will be heavy at times... with
visibility reduced to less than 1 mile.

Heavy wet snow will total as high as 3 to 6 inches... especially across
Hancock and McDonough counties. Hazardous driving conditions will
continue... especially in rural areas. If you must travel... allow extra
time to reach your destination. Reduce your speed and remember to use
headlights so that your vehicle may be more easily seen by other motorists.

Now
Winter Weather Advisory in effect this afternoon... snow will continue
through 2 PM across much of west central Illinois. Brief periods of
moderate to heavy snow are possible... with visibility reduced to less
than a mile...especially along and east of a line from Monmouth to
Augusta. Additional accumulations up to an inch are possible. Heavy wet
snowfall will continue to create hazardous driving conditions.
