At the annual Winterfest Banquet of the Metro DX Club on January 17, =
which was
held at the Old Barn Restaurant in Burbank, IL, two of the members were
presented with co-DXers of the year plaques. The hams were K9AJ, Mike =
McGirr,
and N9TK, Jim Mormar. Mike and Jim were members of the recent Ducie =
Island
DXpedition, an all time new DXCC country. The presentation was made by =
K9MDO,
Bob Adamitis, president of the Metro DX Club.
The Fulton County Amateur Radio Club held their annual Christmas party =
on
December 12th, 2002. During the abbreviated meeting, the election of =
officers
took place. The new officers for 2003 are: President, Colin Adams, =
KS9A;
Vice-President, Jimmie Smith, KB9NKT; Secretary, Jack Tomilanovich, =
AA9YA; and
Treasurer Gary Adams, N9GA.
On Tuesday December3 the MCWA had their election of officers. Those =
elected
were President, Terry Garret, KB9JZY; Vice-President, KC9AVP; Secretary, =
Dan
Bero, KC9BTW; and Treasurer, KC9CAR. The KOTA elected officers in =
November.=20
President Stephanie Thomas, KC9BKV; Vice-President, Dan Gonshorek, =
KC9AIE;
Secretary, Aerial Rademacher, KC9BKU; Treasurer, Keith Gonshorek, =
KC9CPE.
On January 24th Joe Tokarz, KB9EZZ, made an emergency Communications
presentation to the 20 people present at the LaSalle County Local =
Emergency
Planning Committee. The presentation summarized the activities of =
LaSalle
County ARES at the last 3 bi-annual federal exercises at the LaSalle =
County
Nuclear Station and the use of ARESPACK and UI-View.
I am pleased to report that the Peoria Area Amateur Radio Club has been
officially renewed as a Special Service Club. This club is recognized =
for its
efforts on behalf of amateur radio and services to its community. The =
Cenois
Amateur Radio Club also has been officially renewed as a Special Service =
Club.
They are also recognized for their continued efforts on behalf of =
amateur
radio.
>From the SEC: All ARRL affiliated clubs and Special Service Clubs in =
the
Illinois Section should already have Emergency Communications Planning
committees for their club service area to assist Emergency Coordinators =
and
EmComm efforts in their area. Your local appointed EC may already be an
advisory or regular member of your club ECP Committee, and these ECs =
should
ensure all such club ECP committee members are registared in ARES. If =
this is
not the case, notify Pat Ryan, SEC at [email protected] and he will help =
and
advise your club EmComm efforts, and accept ARES registrations from your =
club
ECP committee members if accompanied by your club letter from the =
committee
chair or club officer. In the January 2003 monthly SEC report to the =
ARRL,
KC6VVT reports there were 764 ARES members, and 35 active ARES Nets with =

net liaison with NTS, and a total of 36 ARES operations and 230 man =
hours. 16
DEC/ECs reported: N9PN, WD9EBQ, K9DRW, W9QA, WA9RUM, N9GRM, WB9PPK, =
N9NL,
WA9TZL, KA9SZ. The following ECs submitted their 2002 EC Annual Report =
to the
ARRL with a copy to their SEC or DEC: N9XDC, KA9ILL, AI9F, W9OES, =
K9CNP,
W9ICU, WB9PPK, W9QA, KF9NZ, K9DRW, WB9RLX.
ASM Ron Morgan, KB9NW, attended the Collinsville Hamfest on January =
25th.=20
This was Ron's first venture out to represent the ARRL and he did a =
great job.
I understand that the hamfest was very well attended. I was at the =
WCRA
Hamfest on the 26th and this hamfest was also very well attended.
