Guess I will do my life update for everyone who may be in the least
interested... if your not... delete now :)
First of all, for those of you that don't know... I have moved to Iowa City.
My cell phone number has not changed though (the 309 one).
Other than that, I am driving for a company out of Iowa City called
Heartland Express. Thus far they are a really good company, but I am
considering taking a Unit Administrator job here with a local Combat
Engineering unit. It would be a cut in pay of close to $10,000 a year at
first, but I would probably make that up in how much I spend on the road
during the week, so it wouldn't be a big deal... plus, I wouldn't be on the
road 5 days a week.
The job is going good. One of the things I like about it is that I am home
every weekend, as opposed to just maybe one or two days a month. Makes it a
lot easier to do the hobby thing :)
For the radio geeks here... I just purchased a Kenwood TS450S/AT. Plans are
to set it up as soon as I figure out what to do for an antenna. I am
thinking about building one out of a bunch of slinky's :). I am also going
to be going for my GROL in a couple of weeks. I have already passed element
1, and am studying up for element 3.
Here in a few months is when life really starts to get interesting for me.
The new NRA rifle season starts in March, and I will be competing... my
goals at first will be to get the rifle zeroed at range, and come up with a
load that works for it... in other words, time to buy a chrono and spend
every weekend on the range for about a month. I will be going to Camp Perry
in August next year, for National Rifle and Pistol Competition. I will keep
everyone informed on that.
Also, here in a couple of months, I am starting lessons for my private
pilots license. Really expensive, but something I have always wanted to do.
I started when I was stationed in El Toro, but never got to finish.
I plan on joining the Civil Air Patrol here in the next few months. Use my
military and radio experience for some good. I will be joining as a Senior
Member, which means that I will be eaching and training the kids. For those
of you that don't know anything about it, go to www.capnhq.gov
Other than that, not to much is going on... I lead a boring life with a
bunch of hobbies :)
