Don Nelson from Supreme Radio came into my work place and showed off the
old OPS police repeater antenna that he had replaced on top of a dorm in
the North Quad area. The smooth fiberglass outer shell was totally worn
away leaving a rough skin with the fiberglass grooves. The theory is
smoke from the incinerator and/or water spray from the air conditioning
units on top of the dorm ate away at the fiberglass. 

It is possible something similar may be happening to the antenna on the
440 repeater on top of Lincoln Hall. I know for a fact the repeater
output goes down to nothing during a rain storm. As a club, we need to
look into this and replace the coax and antenna if necessary. It is my
understanding that the university is no longer incinerating trash at the
dorms so this problem may not happen again.
